October in Hungary
In October a red sludge spill occurred in Hungary, doing serious damage to villages in the area.  Many in the affected area lost everything.  Some of our missionaries donned protective gear and Mormon Helping Hands vests and volunteered to help with the clean-up.  One of our zone leaders, Elder Caviness, took charge of the effort on behalf of the missionaries.  The following photos show them at the scene:

Another service our missionaries perform is teaching free English classes each week.

Many of our missionaries are good cooks and love to make traditional Hungarian
dishes like fruit soup and rakott krumpli (a layered potato dish).

Elder Leavitt and Elder Wéber must have had a clean apartment because Elder Leavitt is showing
off his Twix candy bar - a sign that Sister Garner was pleased with what she saw!
Sister Steck, one of our amazing sister missionaries, is also a professional face-painter.
One of her "finding" tools is to take her face paints to a local park or playground and while she paints
the faces of the children, her companion talks to the waiting parents about the gospel.
Who says missionary work can't be fun?!

It looks like Sisters Breithaupt and Feller passed their apartment check, too!

After the baptism everyone was invited indoors to enjoy a delicious buffet.

In October we held a Fast and Testimony Meeting for all single adults in Hungary (ages 28-45).
We gathered in our building on Hajnóczy József ut in Budapest.  After the meeting a dinner was served and then everyone was invited upstairs to the mission home for dessert and visiting.
It was a wonderful opportunity for members and friends to become better acquainted.
The following are photos from that event:

President and Sister Baughman attended their annual Mission Presidents' Seminar in
Dresden, Germany from Oct. 19-22.  They joined with 31 other mission presidents and their wives from throughout Europe.  Everyone stayed at the beautiful Steigenberger Hotel De Saxe in the heart of Dresden where they were surrounded by the history of the Reformation. Inspiring instruction from the members of the Area Presidency and Elder Kevin W. Pearson of the Seventy was given.  On Thursday afternoon they attended a session at the beautiful Freiberg Temple.  It was a memorable three days.
